An operating system is a program which
is acts as an intermediary between a user of computer/machine and
computer/machine hardware. The operating system provides an environment in which a
user can work efficiently.

role in computer, it provides a proper user interface toward the computer
system. the operating system is a more powerful
program that manages and controls hardware and software on a computer.
Need/Uses Of The Operating System:-
An operating system is very useful in
many ways, some reason are described below.
1). OS provides a method of easy interaction
between human and computer.
2). OS handles input and output to and from attached storage
devices, such as hard disks.
3). It provides security to the user program.
4). It handles control of
programming execution.
5). It is managed the use of main
memory.
6). It sends messages to each user about
the status of operation or error that may have occurred in the system.
7). It is load and schedules a user’s
program.

Window:- Window is an operating system which is introduced by Microsoft
Corporation in 1985. It is the most commonly used operating system.
Android:- Android operating system is developed by Google. Android
OS is compatible with mobile phone and Tablet.
i-OS:- i-OS operating system
is developed by Apple Inc. it is a mobile operating system which is only used in
Apple’s mobile and tablet like – iPhone, iPod.
Linux:- Linux operating system
is used in PC or Laptop. It is a open source operating system which provides a
effective user interface.
MacOS:- mac operating system
is develop by apple. MacOS is only used by apple for Apple’s Laptop and PC.
